Overview
A method aimed at generating ideas for technical problems such as product development (improvement and enhancement). The Attribute Listing Method lists all attributes (characteristics and features) of the target product and examines each one to generate diverse ideas for improvement and enhancement.

Steps
- 1
Set the design subject in advance.

- 2
Analyze the design subject and list direct attributes (materials, form, specifications, functions, etc.) and indirect attributes (history, meaning, image, etc.) as they come to mind. Check the listed attributes for contradictions or duplications, organize them, and write all attributes on paper.

- 3
Check each listed attribute one by one and extract new ideas by expanding those characteristics or adding other functions. If unsuitable as a design solution, refine into a realistically feasible idea.

Tips & Tricks
When listing direct and indirect attributes, it is important to categorize attributes into three types: nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Nouns: materials, manufacturing methods, parts of products, etc. Adjectives: heavy, hard, smooth, etc. Verbs: run, rotate, cut, etc.
Since indirect attributes are thought to have different uses and images depending on the user, it is better to seek and reference opinions from as many people as possible.
